About Letras

Letras is a book subscription service that brings fresh stories in Portuguese to families across Halton Region in Ontario, Canada. Each month, you receive a carefully curated selection of books for your reader to discover, enjoy, and share with the next reader.

Choose the box that best fits your reader, and we’ll take care of the rest. We carefully select the books, deliver your box to your door, and collect your previous box when your next one arrives. Then, a new selection of stories begins.

Letras is for families who want to bring more Portuguese into their everyday lives through books and reading. Whether Portuguese is your reader’s first language, a language they are learning, or simply a language you want to keep present at home, Letras makes discovering books in Portuguese easy and enjoyable.

Yes. All books in our regular collections are in Portuguese. We carefully select books that offer engaging reading experiences while helping readers stay connected to the Portuguese language.

Our collections are designed for different reading stages, from little listeners and young readers discovering their first stories to independent readers. Each box is curated with your reader’s age, reading stage, and interests in mind.

Letras offers collections designed for different reading stages and interests, from early readers discovering stories in Portuguese to independent readers.

Story Time — books for little listeners and shared reading.
First Steps — books for readers beginning their reading journey with simple text that helps build confidence.
Young Readers — engaging stories for developing readers.
Independent Readers — books for more confident, independent readers.
Gibi Box — a collection of five gibis (comics) from Brazil for readers who love humour and adventure.

Each regular subscription includes one curated box with three books per month. You can also add a second box to your subscription at a discounted price, making it easy to explore more than one collection.

Choose the collection that best matches your reader’s age, reading stage, and interests. Each collection is designed to offer books that are appropriate for their stage while giving them opportunities to discover new stories.

Each regular Letras box includes three carefully selected books per month. The Gibi Box includes five gibis (comics) from Brazil.

The Gibi Box is our comic-focused collection, featuring five gibis (comics) for readers who love humour and adventure.

Yes. The Gibi Box can be subscribed to on its own or added to a regular Letras subscription. If you already have a regular box, you can add the Gibi Box and save $5/month.

Yes. As your reader grows and their reading skills and interests change, you can change their collection or reading level by contacting us. Changes must be made at least 5 days before your next scheduled delivery.

We do our best to keep every selection fresh and avoid sending the same book more than once. We keep track of previous selections so we can continue offering new stories as your reader explores Letras.

Delivery & Pick Up

Letras currently delivers throughout Halton Region, including Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills. We look forward to expanding our delivery area in the future.

Your Letras box is delivered once a month. Each month, you’ll receive a fresh selection of books in Portuguese to discover and enjoy.

Letras follows a regular monthly delivery schedule based on your location. Our currently delivery schedule is:

Oakville: First Tuesday of each month
Burlington: First Thursday of each month
Milton & Halton Hills: Second Tuesday of each month

Your delivery day will be confirmed when you subscribe.

No. We can leave your Letras box at your door in a safe, sheltered location. If you have specific delivery instructions, you can provide them through your account.

You don't need to arrange a separate return. When we deliver your next Letras box, we'll collect your previous box with all the books inside. Simply place your closed box in a safe, accessible, and sheltered location by your door before your 4–8 PM delivery window. You don't need to be home.

No. Letras handles the collection for you. Simply have your previous box ready when your next box is delivered, and we'll take it from there.

If you need to keep your current box for another month, please let us know at least 48 hours before your scheduled delivery. You can keep the box until your next scheduled delivery, when we'll collect it and provide your new selection.

If we don't receive notice at least 48 hours in advance, a $5 late return fee may apply. Your next box will be skipped, and your current box will be collected with your following month's delivery.

Subscription

Our regular Letras subscription is $19.99 + applicable taxes per month.

The Gibi Box is $17.99 + applicable taxes per month.

Add any additional box and save $5/month — the discount will be applied at checkout.

No. There is no minimum subscription period. You can enjoy Letras for as long as it works for your reader and cancel whenever you choose. To avoid being charged for your next box, cancellations must be made at least
48 hours before your next billing date.

Yes. You can skip your next monthly box through your account. To skip the upcoming month without being charged, your request must be made at least 48 hours before your next billing date. You can keep your current box and return it when your next box is delivered.

Yes. If you need to pause your subscription for more than one month, you can request a pause through your account at least 48 hours before your next billing date. Your current box must be returned, and we'll collect it during your next scheduled delivery. Your subscription will remain paused until you choose to resume.

To pause your subscription without further charges, the current box must be returned. If the box is not returned, your subscription will remain active and billing will continue monthly.

Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account. To avoid being charged for your next monthly box, cancellations must be made at least 48 hours before your next billing date. If your payment has already been processed, your cancellation will take effect for the following month.

Your first payment is made when you subscribe. After that, your subscription will automatically renew monthly on the recurring billing date established for your subscription at the time of signup. To avoid being charged for the next month, cancellations, skips, or pauses must be requested at least 48 hours before your next billing date.

Yes. You can contact us to change your collection or reading level. Changes to your box must be made at least 5 days before your scheduled delivery so we have enough time to prepare your new selection.

Books & Care

We understand that books are meant to be read and enjoyed. Normal signs of use are expected, and minor wear and tear won't be a concern. If a book is accidentally damaged, please let us know so we can assess its condition and determine whether it can continue its journey to another reader. If a book is damaged beyond continued use, a replacement fee equivalent to the cost of replacing the book may apply.

Please let us know as soon as possible if a book is lost. If the book cannot be returned, a replacement fee equivalent to the cost of replacing the book may apply. We’ll work with you to resolve the situation and keep your Letras collection moving.

Please contact us as soon as you notice a book is missing. We'll check your order and help resolve the issue.

Yes. Every returned book is carefully inspected and cleaned as appropriate before being sent to its next reader. We check each book's condition and make sure it is clean, well-maintained, and ready for its next reading adventure.

Treat your Letras books with the same care you would give your own. Keep them clean and dry, away from food, drinks, pets, and excessive moisture. Please avoid writing, colouring, cutting, or placing stickers on the books. When you're finished reading, return them to the Letras box so they're ready for their next reader.
