About Us
A love of books, Portuguese, and the feeling of home
Letras was born from something personal: a desire to keep Portuguese present in everyday life and to make it easier for families to discover and share stories together.
I moved to Canada in 2018 with my two boys, then 7 and 9 years old. As they grew up here, I came to understand even more deeply how language can connect us to family, culture, memories, and home.
Books became an important part of that connection.
Created by a mother, educator, and storyteller
My love of storytelling began in Brazil, where I volunteered as a storyteller for children in hospitals, bringing stories, imagination, and moments of joy to their days.
Today, I work in the Canadian school system as an Educational Assistant and Portuguese International Language Instructor. With a background in Pedagogy and Early Childhood Education, I have continued to see the power of books and stories to spark curiosity, imagination, confidence, and connection.
Letras brings these experiences together.
We carefully select books in Portuguese for different reading stages, making it easier for families to bring fresh stories into their reading routine.
More than books
For me, Letras is about more than sending books from one home to another.
It's about keeping Portuguese alive, staying connected to culture, creating moments together, and growing a love of reading.
I hope Letras can become part of family life — a box that brings something new to discover, a reason to read together, and a little more Portuguese into your home.
From my family to yours
I created Letras with families like mine in mind — families who want Portuguese to remain a meaningful part of everyday life.
May every box bring a new story to discover, a little more Portuguese into your home, and moments that stay with you long after the book is closed.
